What We're Saying...

04/15/2010
CME Enterprise' was recently recognized as the recipient of the  2010 Alliance Award for Innovation in Continuing Professional Development for the CME Professional and/or Enterprise in the April 2010 issue of the Alliance for CME's Almanac.  Through our CPD program, we utilize practical methods and tools to put the Alliance competencies into practice. We capitalize on many of the skills and practices our staff of CME professionals already use in planning and implementing CME activities, thus representing an internal application of adult learning, activity planning, and measurement principles. We are truly committed to walking the talk by investing in our own staff performance improvement and lifelong learning.

The second of our two-part article, "The Future of Medical Relicensure and the Responsibility of CME: Part 2 of 2," appeared in the June 2009 issue of the Alliance for CME's Almanac. It reviews the positions and recommendations of the Federation of State Medical Boards and the American Board of Medical Specialty's 24 certifying boards. Also, it suggests that emerging state medical board MOL requirements and the present focus in CME on self-assessment and continuous improvement create a prime opportunity for effective collaboration toward what is fundamentally a common goal. Included at the close is a call to action for CME professionals, underscoring the importance of providers being poised to act upon the latest data and provide timely, relevant, high impact education that will add value to physicians in the evolving requirements for both MOL and MOC.

CME Enterprise was featured as the cover story of the May 2009 issue of the Alliance for CME's Almanac, with the first of our two-part article "
The Future of Medical Relicensure and the Responsibility of CME: Part 1 of 2." This article reviews the differences between the current state of maintenance of licensure (MOL) and maintenance of certification (MOC). MOC, the CME of the future, must focus on competency-based assessment and assuring maintenance of physician competence in order to both meet requirements of various health care community stakeholders and independent agencies and answer the public's demands for accountability and genuine, ongoing demonstration of the physician's ability to provide quality medical care.
